Volunteer Opportunities

New 9 + 1 Volunteer Opportunity: NYRR Information Kiosk Greeter Help us help runners and park users! NYRR has long been an informative and friendly presence in Central Park. We occupy the Information Kiosk at Engineer’s Gate near the East 90th Street entrance off of Fifth avenue, and provide park visitors with answers to their questions and information about NYRR. Now you can fulfill your NYRR 9 + 1 volunteer requirement for eligibility for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon by serving as a kiosk greeter. Choose a shift on Monday through Friday to provide visitors with park maps, directions, traffic and running rules, and dog-walking laws, as well as information about NYRR events, classes, group runs, and more. To volunteer as a NYRR Information Kiosk greeter, use the same procedure as if you were choosing to volunteer at a race. Find the NYRR Information Kiosk prompt, and select a shift. Remember, this new volunteer opportunity will satisfy your volunteer requirement of the 9 + 1 program.

NYRR’s annual calendar features more than 100 running/walking events throughout New York City, including road races ranging from 1 to 50 miles, cross country races, indoor track meets, and kids races. We need and greatly appreciate the assistance of volunteers at all of our events.

We are now pleased to offer an online Volunteer Sign-Up System for our weekly races! Simply click the link below and you will be directed to a sign-in page, which will take you to a list of races. From there you can expand a race to see the list of available volunteer jobs. Certain assignments may fill up quickly, so sign up early.

NYRR members who are volunteering in order to gain guaranteed entry into the ING New York City Marathon must enter their member number when they sign up to volunteer. Any volunteer opportunity listed in the Volunteer Sign-Up System will satisfy the guaranteed entry requirement.

Go to http://volunteers.nyrr.org to sign up.

Important! Be sure that we have your correct phone number and e-mail address in the volunteer system, even if you think NYRR has this information in another place. The only way to do this is to update your profile in the volunteer system. After your log-in is complete, click on the "Profile" box. Enter your correct telephone number and current e-mail address, confirm e-mail address, and click "Save."

If you have any questions, please contact NYRR's volunteer office at 212.423.2205. We will contact you the week before the event to remind you of the race time and location. Volunteers are always welcome even if they have not signed up prior to a race.*
