Patrick Makau (28:19) of Kenya won the Healthy Kidney 10K on Saturday, May 17, in Central Park.
ING New York City Marathon 2006 champion Marilson Gomes dos Santos (28:31) of Brazil finished second and Richard Kiplagat (29:08) of Kenya was third. On the women's side, Aziza Aliyu (33:32) of the Westchester Track Club took first, with Atalelech Ketema (34:37) and Meskerem Legesse (35:19) finishing second and third, respectively. The race, which is sponsored by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, was staged to benefit the National Kidney Foundation.
