NYRR Joe Kleinerman 10K - Sunday, December 7 / 10K (6.2M) • 8:30 a.m. / S, Q, + (M/W)

The legacy of NYRR founder Joe Kleinerman lives on with his namesake 10K. This wintry run not only pays tribute to Kleinerman, who passed away in 2003, but it also benefits a scholarship fund in his name for scholastic runners. $1 of your registration fee goes directly to the fund, and additional donations can be made during registration.

Note: Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on Central Park’s East Drive near 101st Street. Head north on East Drive. Continue around the northern end of Central Park to the West Drive. Continue on West Drive around the southern end of Central Park to the East Drive. Head north on the East Drive and turn left on the 102nd Street Transverse to the finish.

Number Pickup /Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs in advance. Materials may be picked up at the NYRR, 9 East 89th Street, on:

• Thursday, December 4, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, December 5, 1:00-7:00 p.m
• Saturday, December 6, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Numbers and scoring chips ONLY will be available at 9 East 89th Street on race morning, Sunday, December 7, from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. Race souvenirs will be available in the park only from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. If checking in on race day, please be sure to allow yourself enough time to get to the start.

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2008 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
