NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K - Saturday, December 20 / 15K • 8:30 a.m. / S, Q

UPDATE: Due to road conditions resulting from inclement weather, the NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K has been designated a fun run. The run will start, as scheduled, at 8:30 a.m., but will not be scored. All registered entrants will receive credit for one of the nine races that are part of the eligibility requirements for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. Please note that the course will still feature mile markers and timing clocks.

NYRR has renamed the NYRR Hot Chocolate 15K in honor of our founding president Ted Corbitt. The NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K, which occurs on Saturday, December 20, will now replace the former race. Please make note of the new name in making your race plans for December.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on Central Park’s East Drive at 101st Street and head north. Turn left/west onto the 102nd Street Transverse and left/south onto West Drive. Head all the way around the southern end of the Park to East Drive and continue north. Turn left/west onto the 102nd Street Transverse and left/south onto West Drive. Turn left/east onto the 72nd Street Transverse and left/north onto East Drive and finish on the 102nd Street Transverse.

*Please note: if you are finishing stay to your left on the 102nd Street Transverse, if you have a lap remaining stay to your right.

Number Pickup /Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs in advance. Materials make be picked up at NYRR, 9 East 89th Street, on:

• Thursday, December 18, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, December 19, 1:00-7:00 p.m.

Numbers and scoring chips ONLY will be available at 9 East 89th Street on race morning, Saturday, December 20, from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. Race souvenirs will be available in the park only from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. If checking in on race day, please be sure to allow yourself enough time to get to the start.

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2008 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
